Hello all, well RFLAN 30 is upon us! Starting at 10AM tomorrow, we are looking forward to a fantastic weekend. We have a few things going on that you may not be aware of - so please read through the e-mail for our last minute details!

Arrival Times

The LAN will open it's doors at 10AM. As everyone is prepaid it is not a requirement that you arrive at this time and in fact if you arrive a little later before mid-day - you can probably avoid queueing outside. We will be making our morning welcome at mid-day so try to arrive before then.

What to bring

There are a few essentials - don't forget

  • A towel, toiletries and a change of clothes (for our water fun, plus private and enclosed shower facilities are available for the hot weekend!)
  • Your computer, monitor, keyboard, power cables, mouse pad, any other cables, network cable (5-10M), headphones.
  • Money for the canteen and pizza runs
  • Sunscreen & a hat

Weather & Fans

It is going to be warm this weekend. We will be doing the best we can to keep you cool and happy.

Note that last event a few people bought fans - we are totally happy with this (it's fine for the power) - but if possible please look at purchasing a DESK fan, rather than a pedestal fan. As that will get in the way and is a potential danger for being walking through isles.

Sleeping

We are going to be trialling a sleeping area in the second air conditioned hall. So bring a pillow and other equipment (swag, blanket) to make yourself comfortable. Note we do not take responsibility for any equipment or theft, so be sure to put all your valuables away or take them with you when sleeping.

Steam Updates / Internet

Please be sure to launch Steam, and all of the games you want to play before you leave home while connected to the internet. This will make sure all the latest updates are downloaded. This is VERY important - as our internet connection gets hammered by everyone doing steam updates for the first 8 hours - and we want to minimise that as much as possible. It will be very slow otherwise, I promise!

Team Flag Competition!

We are running a competition this event, if you have a team - design your own flag! You can do this any way you like, with any materials (as long as it is -SAFE-) - and put your flag up above your team!

Team DPS did this last LAN, check out a photo of their efforts!

See you there!

That's it folks - see you there tomorrow morning - hope you enjoy the weekend!

See you at RFLAN 30!

Best Regards,
Trent, for the RFLAN Team
